Maura Murray

Maura Murray was a straight-A nursing student who had been a West Point Cadet and was a superior athlete. Days before her disappearance, reports have stated that she had got engaged to her boyfriend Bill Rausch. They had met at West Point where she was a cadet for two years before transferring to the University of Massachusetts to study her dream of being a nurse. The couple were having problems in the relationship since they had started dating. Also days before, she had caused a $10,000 worth of damage to her dads vehicle when hitting a guardrail coming back from a college party on February 7th. By Monday, February 9, she had withdrew $280 from her bank account and emailed her professor stating that she would not attend the next few classes because of a death in her family that never truly happened. Her dad had said to CNN in 2008 that "She was in good spirits and had no worries or reason to run away from her life."
21-year-old Maura Murray went missing 13 years ago when she crashed her car into a snow bank on Route 112, at the corner of Wild Ammonoosuc and Bradley Hill Roads in New Hampshire. after driving on a sharp turn. A few moments after this happened, a car drove by who was Butch Atwood, a local bus driver, asking if she needed any help but she turned him down stating that she had contacted AAA road service. Knowing that she was all alone, the driver then got a hold of local police stating what had happened. When police arrived at the scene, Murray's car was locked and she was nowhere to be found. She basically vanished without a trace. In her car, police found a phone, cards, and a wine box. Also in her dorm room, her belongings were backed in boxes. When the police searched for Murray, no footprints were found and the search dogs could not pick up her scent from more than 100 yards.
To this day, Maura's family has not given up their hope in finding their loved daughter, sister, and brother or even an answer or justice to what has been done. In Maura dad's eyes, he still believes that she lives and that he will complete his mission of finding his daughter to give him and his family closure.
There are many theories to what people think happened to Maura Murray. One theory states that another case is similar to hers that a 17-year-old girl, Brianna Maitland had vanished the exact way Maura did in Vermont and that a serial killer is on the loose. Maitland's car was found approximately 100 miles from Murray's one month later. Maitland's disappearance to this day is still unsolved with no body found. Another theory has been said that Murray wanted a way out, that someone had picked her up, drove her to where she wanted to be, and stayed on the low about her disappearance.
In my opinion, I believe that Maura did want a way out of her life. She was in a bad relationship where her and her boyfriend fought from the beginning, she had crashed her dads car causing a large amount in damage, and had made larger mistakes day by day before her disappearance. The way she vanished does cause a lot of unanswered questions to how she went missing without a trace, not even footprints in the snow.
